ROBERT WAYNE ELLIS

Our beloved husband, dad, and pawpaw, Robert Wayne Ellis, 69, passed away peacefully in his home on August 13th. He was surrounded by his loving family as he entered the kingdom of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This gentle, loving, caring man etched a mark in our hearts by his selfless actions that he displayed to everyone he met throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Jean Ellis of Hueytown, AL. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, his children Brent Ellis, Kim Davis (Dal), his grandsons, Cole and Levi Davis and his brother, Sam Ellis (Connie). After graduating from Hueytown High School in 1969, Robert attended Samford University where he met the love of his life, Debbie. They were married on August 11, 1973 and celebrated 48 wonderful years of marriage this year. He retired in 2012 as an Accountant for Sonat / El Paso Energy after 40 years of working with exceptional colleagues, who were like a second family to him. Robert loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He especially looked forward to trips to the Smokey Mountains and to the Gulf Coast beaches, where many special memories were made with his family. He also looked forward to football season each year and could be heard cheering for his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. In addition, he also loved music and was an active member and officer of ARCA (Alabama Record Collectors Association) where he enjoyed discussing music with friends and meeting music collectors from around the world. Lastly, and perhaps most memorable to him, was spending time with his two amazing grandsons, Cole and Levi. Most importantly, Robert lived his life for Christ. He knew that nothing was impossible with Jesus and his faith endured as he battled pancreatic cancer for over two years before the Lord called him home. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Thursday, August 19, 2021, starting at 1:00 PM at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home (195 Brooklane Drive Hueytown, AL 35023). The Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow at Patterson-Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastor Tom Hannah officiating. Honorary pallbearers include friends and members of ARCA. Due to the current pandemic, the family respectfully asks that guests wear a mask while attending the visitation and service.
