MITCHEL "MICKEY" CRAWFORD

Mitchel “Mickey” Crawford passed away March 2, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on May 10, 1947, in Midfield AL. He was preceded in death by his parents Owen and Geraldine Crawford and his sister Janice Lynn Crawford. He is survived by his sister Cherly Jones (Jerry); his nieces Cassandra Gutierrez (Randy), KC Clowdus (Ken), grandniece Melissa Clowdus (Marshall), grandnephew Annon Clowdus and his cousin Larry Sudduth (Paula) whom he considered a brother. He is also survived by other cousins and lifelong friends that will miss him dearly. Mickey graduated from Hueytown high school in 1965. After graduating he moved to Bradenton Florida. While in Florida he worked for Tropicana and began working in construction. When not working he was enjoying some of his favorite pastimes, fishing, sitting on the beach and chasing women. After the passing of his father he moved back to midfield to take care of his mother. He worked for several large construction firms as a foreman. After retirement he enjoyed trips to the beach, fishing and listening to music at the Flora Bama. He also loved fast sports cars and beautiful women. Mickey was a true friend always helping those in need. His family often teased him about being the unofficial banker of Midfield. The thing he will truly be remembered for is his love of football. He kept up with all the SEC teams. But his one true love was the University of Alabama. We will all be able to hear him shouting “Roll Tide Roll” from the heavens this football season. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kandy Smith who took care of Mickey. She was more than a housekeeper. She was a trusted friend that Mickey could count on to run errands and do anything he needed done. Mickey considered her one of his best friends and we are so thankful for her. Pall Bearers are Larry Sudduth, Kirk Sudduth, Michael Friloux, Elton Riley, Ronnie Walton and Tim Walton. Honorary Pall Bearers are Steve English, Bill Green, Charlie Fulton and Harry Cowley. The visitation will be Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home, 195 Brooklane Drive, Hueytown AL. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Millport AL.
