MARTHA ANN FERRELL

Martha Ann Ferrell Age 76 passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Hueytown, June 17,2011 at 10:15 pm with all her family at her side. Martha, cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all will be deeply missed. Martha better known as Memaw by everyone was the cornerstone of her family and kept all holidays centered around her family and friends with the true meaning of Christ in her life. Martha was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove where she enjoyed serving the Church and Christ participating in such activities of church life, including the Choir and her Sunday School family where she and her husband, Donald were entrical parts of the church. Martha was retired from Loveman’s and JCPenny. Martha’s love of flowers showed in the honor bestowed upon her receiving the City’s Beautification Award multiple times during her life. Martha and her beloved husband, Don, were avid travelers and we can say they probably visited every National Park in the United States and loved every moment and adventure they shared during their 56 years of life together. Sometimes their adventures included their son, grandsons and niece with lots of photos to prove every trip. The visitation will be held Monday, 6-20-2011, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, at Peoples Funeral Home in Hueytown, AL. The funeral service will be held at her special love of her life, First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, AL in the chapel on Tuesday, 6-21-2011 at 11:00 AM. Presiding over the ceremony will be Bro. Harold Newberry and Bro. Bob Pruitt. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Davin Watkins presiding. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald P. Ferrell, her sister, Lanette Keel, her mother, Kitty Irene and father, Frank H. Stracner. Martha is survived by her son Donald P. Ferrell, Jr. (wife, Diana) that Martha said was like the daughter she never had. Grandsons, Eric (wife Julie) and Andrew who lived with her after Don, PaPa, passed away in October of 2010, and grandson Jeremy (wife Janie) great granddaughters, Maci and Morgan Pullen. Brother, Frank E. Stracner (wife Violet), Sister, Bertie Barnes, with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends left behind to mourn her leaving them.
