LELUS MONTGOMERY WELDON

Lelus Montgomery Weldon, known as “Doc Weldon” in his community and “EO” to his family, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 93. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was a devoted follower of Christ and humble servant. He was preceded in death by parents Sallie Mae Montgomery and Howard Weldon, his twelve siblings, Louie, Hazel, Bill, Helen, Era, Vera, Madge, Grace, Buddy, Alice, Bobby and Jack along with their spouses and significant others. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years Nancy Gail Snow Weldon, four children, Diane, Sandra, Steve, and Andrea, eleven grandchildren, Josh, Kara, David, Christopher, Katie, Casey, Seth, Daniel, Riley, Anna and Jacob, and six great-grandchildren, Paige, James, Rylan, Grayson, Sophie and Willow. Spouses and significant others complete this family. He loved spending time with his family, often in and around the water, in a swimming pool, a lake or the beach. He was an avid reader, fisherman and Alabama football fan! He traveled all over the southeast and beyond to watch his favorite team. He served in the Air Force during the Korean war as a Morse Code operator. After his years in the service, he enrolled at Howard College (later known as Samford University) and pursued a degree in pharmacy. It was during this time he met Gail, fell in love and was married. After graduation, they moved their young family to Hueytown, opened Weldon Pharmacy, and enjoyed a beautiful and very blessed life. He faithfully served his community until his retirement in 2001. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the faith he lived out daily. The family would like to give special thanks to Hosmer Home Care Ministry, Erika Cole, Angie Boyd, Michelle Terry, and Donny Hosmer for the care they provided for our Daddy in his final days. Thanks also to the all the people at Southeast Hospice especially Amber and Wanda. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Highlands Baptist Church, 4851 15th Street Road, Hueytown, AL 35023 or your favorite charity. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 10:00-11:00AM at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home, Hueytown with a service to follow at 11:00AM. with Michael Wallace officiating. Immediately following the service, family and friends will proceed to Highland Memorial Gardens for graveside services.
