DOROTHY ANN WIGGINS YOUNG

Dorothy Ann Wiggins Young, 90, of Hueytown, passed away March 6, 2021. “Dot” graduated from The University of Alabama on June 3rd, 1952 and married her husband of 66 years, Charles L. Young, that same day. Dot worked as a secretary for the US Army while Charlie was enlisted active duty. An accomplished artist, she is well known locally for her Christmas Cards which many people cherished and framed. She moved her art studio from the basement of her home to Dot Young’s Art Studio in Hueytown. Much of her art is still enjoyed by Hueytown First United Methodist Church. She painted a beautiful mural in the lunchroom of Hueytown Elementary School. She illustrated the children’s book, “Where are my Christmas Presents?” (written by her nephew, James Rives) which was published in 2007. She started Young Designs and masterfully created many cross stitch designs which were showcased in “Just Cross Stitch” publication. She painted portraits and landscapes, and enjoyed writing poetry, capturing the essence of her subjects. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hueytown where she actively contributed in numerous ways for decades. Dot was also a member of the United Methodist Women, and the Hueytown Hobby Club. Dot will be remembered for her many talents, her creativity and her joyful, loving soul. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Charles L. Young; sons Charles Randolph Young and Michael David Young; and parents J.T. and Alice Wiggins. She is survived by her children Ronald Gregory Young (Pam), Linda Karen Young Warburton, and Lisa Sharon Young Emmal (John); daughter-in-law Debbie Mogle Young Trampe; grandchildren Beth Young, Stephen Young, Robert Young (Jennifer), Casey Young, Riley Young, Johan Warburton (Giuly), ErikaLin Warburton, TerriAnn Warburton, Cameron Emmal (Lindsey), Forrest Emmal (Ari), Shelby Emmal, and Katie Emmal; great grandchildren Flora Emmal and Asher Young; Jo Rives; nephews James Rives and Tom Rives (Michele). The visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Hueytown First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at the Church at 11:00. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
