BONITA CARGILE PARSONS

Bonita Cargile Parsons, age 76, passed away at her home on February 12, 2026, in Adger, Alabama. Born on January 18, 1950, in Birmingham, Alabama, she lived a life rooted in love, service, and devotion to her family. A proud graduate of Oak Grove High School’s Class of 1968, where she was a cheerleader and still showed school spirit for her alma mater for the duration of her life. Bonita carried the values of hard work and compassion throughout her life. She worked over 25 years taking care of children she loved as her own with 20 years at Rock Creek Church of God daycare where the parents in her small town praised her for her kindness and patience when caring for their children. Bonita was known for her unwavering dedication as a caregiver—always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether tending to family or offering support to those around her, Bonita’s nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never missed a sports game or special event and was one call away always to run and assist wherever she was needed. Bonita found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—watching Braves baseball games and doting on the younger generations of her family. Her small home was a place of warmth and welcome, where laughter echoed and love abounded and where Christmas cookies and rainbow colored pancakes were made. Bonita is survived by her sister Brenda Crumpton; brother Joe Cargile; granddaughters Kayla Young (Caleb) and Tori Parsons (Kody); great-grandsons Vinnie Tamburello, Sammie Tamburello, Rhett Young, twins Halen and Haze Baswell, Brynleigh & Brystol Phillips, Hendryx Baswell, Kalvin Chapman and William Salter; daughter in laws Bridgitte Phillips and Susan Stamps; nephew Jerry Crumpton; nieces Suzanne Womack (Brian), Shannon Loris, and Alecia Clark (Jimmy); nephew Kevin Loris (Teri) ; sister-in-law and best friend Phyllis Loris, and chosen son Bobby Albright (Renee). She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Tomera Taylor, beloved parents Clyde and Bettye Ruth Cargile and her son Benjamin Parsons. Bonita’s Christian faith guided her throughout life. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with kindness, strength, and selfless care. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. The visitation will be Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity or the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
