Willliam M. “Mac” Hornsby, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Mac was born April 2, 1958 in Fairfield, Alabama at the old Lloyd Noland Hospital to his parents Jayne and William Hornsby, Sr.. He attended Forest Hills Elementary School, Hueytown Elementary School, Pittman Jr. High School, Hueytown High School and graduated with a business degree from Auburn University in 1982. Throughout his Jr. High and High School days, Mac participated in the school bands, excelling in playing the trombone. Mac was an accomplished and very successful steel salesman working many years for O'neal Steel, KGS Steel and several others. He always led his company in sales results. Mac was an excellent and avid tennis player until his physical condition brought it to a close. He was a rabid war eagle fan (even though his bride was a Crimson Tider). Mac is survived by his wife Deborah Hornsby of Hueytown; brother Mark A. Hornsby, of Helena; his parents Jayne and William Sr., both of Hueytown; and many other cousins and relatives. He was a family man devoted to his wife and her children and grandchildren. This includes daughter Meleigha Carter; son Jason Dement (Jessica); and grandchildren Mia and Garrett Carter, Zane and Shaun Dement. They all loved him dearly. The visitation will be from 12:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home, with Rev. John Verciglio officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
