WILLIAM HAROLD BURKHALTER Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William Harold Burkhalter, 83, of Orange Beach, passed away Monday, November 4, 2019, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Carrolton, Alabama on January 6, 1936. He graduated from Carrolton High School in 1955, and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 -1960 in the Recon Division. He retired after 33 years from Continental Can. He loved Hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He also loved traveling and camping which he was able to do a lot. He enjoyed gardening and building things, and spending time with his family and friends. Harold was preceded in death by his parents William Homer and Adelaide Burkhalter. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Burkhalter; daughter Karen Patterson (Randy), sons Paul Burkhalter (Mary Ann), and Eric Burkhalter; grandchildren Breanna Burkhalter and Luke Burkhalter; and sisters Sissie Noble (Bill), and Sharon Hamm (Paul). The visitation will be Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold Newberry and Randy Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery. The family wishes to express special thanks to Comfort Care Hospice, Jeanetta Miller, and Denise Houston as caregivers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
