TRAVIS C. KELLEY

On Friday, July 24, 2020, Travis C. Kelley, loving husband, father, and Pop, passed away at the age of 68. Travis was born on September 18th, 1951 in Hueytown, AL, to Floyd and Mertis Kelley. He attended North Highland Elementary, Pittman Jr. High, and Hueytown High School where he played football and graduated in 1969. He graduated from Jefferson State Community College and attended UAB.  Travis retired from Family Dollar after 34 years of employment.  On August 14, 1971, Travis married his High School sweetheart, Sue McLellan Kelley at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hueytown.  They were happily married for 49 years.  They raised one daughter, Genie Parks. Travis was humble, kind and thoughtful. He taught 3 and 4 year old Sunday School Class at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for 16 years. His love for God and church has been passed on to many. Travis was an avid researcher of history and was more than happy to share his knowledge with all who would listen. He was a proud Pop to Andrew and Kelley. He would never fail to brag on all their accomplishments to all his friends. He supported them in all their endeavors, and they always knew that his love and encouragement went with them. Travis was preceded in death by his niece Lindsey Kelley daughter of Phil Kelley and Dot Kelley. He is survived by his wife Sue, his daughter, Genie Parks, and her husband, Brian Parks, his grandchildren, Andrew and Kelley Parks, his mother and father, Floyd and Mertis Kelley, his brother, Phil Kelley, Robert Kelley son of Phil Kelley, and Steve Kelley brother. Several other nieces and nephews. There will be a  public committal service Monday, July 27, 2020, at 11:45 A.M. at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Children's or Jesus Pantry. The address is Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church 1343 Hueytown Rd.
