TERRY DEWAYNE BARRON

Terry DeWayne Barron, a loving family man, was born July 25, 1948 and left this earthly home on July 30, 2020 to be with his Lord and Savior.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William Gatson Barron and Mattie Ree Yancy Barron, his brothers William and Larry Barron and his step daughter Sissy Hyde.  Terry was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam in the 48th Assault Helicopter Company where he earned the rank of Sargent and received the Air Medal for combat service as a helicopter gunner.  He was retired from the Alabama Dept of Corrections where he served many years with the K-9 Unit.  At the Department of Corrections he received many letters of accommodation from state and local municipalities.  Upon retiring he moved to the Warrior River where he loved to take relaxing rides and fish.  He was a long time member of the Elks Lodges serving many roles and providing assistance to the communities and schools.  He was also a member of the Eagles in Forestdale, Alabama for many years.  He leaves behind many loved ones including his love, Marie Dees, daughter Melinda McDonald (Carl), son Michael Barron (Jennifer), step-son Joey Hilburn (Cindy), grandchildren Anna Nicole McDonald, Kallie McDonald, Griffin Barron (Elissa Glaze and her daughter Amberleigh Rose Glaze), Zach Hyde, Bradley Hyde, Elizabeth Hilburn and Katie Hilburn.  He also leaves behind one great granddaughter, Brooklynn Grace McDonald. Brothers Denzil Barron (Agnes) and Cleveland Barron (Susan).  Five nephews, one niece, five great nephews, seven great nieces and many cousins and extended family members.   Services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Smithville Baptist Church (9308 Old Toadvine Road, Bessemer Alabama 35023).  Viewing will be at 1 pm with services to follow.  Burial will be at Smithville Baptist Cemetery.  The funeral services will be conducted by the Elks Lodge with Lodge members as pallbearers, honorary pallbearers will be nephews and nieces.  The family wishes to receive friends at Smithville Baptist after the graveside service concludes for a time of fellowship.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Elks National Foundation (2750 N Lakeview Avenue, Chicago Il 60614-2256.
