Robert E. “Bob” Holman, of Hueytown, passed away September 27, 2019. He was a happy and loving man who loved his family, his church, his country, and a good joke. You never knew if he would come into a room with a clown nose or crazy mask on and break out into song. He would wake up his grandchildren by singing Reveille early on Saturday mornings after staying up late at his house. Back in the days of answering machines, he would call his grandchildren and leave songs as messages for when they returned home from school. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle and he loved them all fiercely. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and loved to tell his grandchildren of his trips to the French Alps and Greece during leave. He grew up in Buzzards Bay Cape Cod, Massachusetts and he loved telling stories of growing up on the cape and his childhood escapades. If you knew him well, you know he was a constant caregiver, whether at home or participating in church mission trips. He retired from South Central Bell after 35 years. Bob is preceded in death by his wife June Holman; parents Melvin and Marion Holman; and brothers Buster, Bert, and Walter Holman. He is survived by his children Patricia Jackson (Greg) and Mark Holman; grandchildren Jill Preuninger (Stephen) and Chad Jackson (Brandi Hadaway); great grandchildren Grey Preuninger, Cameron Hadaway, John Tyler Hadaway, and Lili Holman; and many nieces and nephews. The visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, at Concord Baptist Church. The funeral service will be Monday, September 30, 2019, at 1:00 PM, at the Church, with Rev. Keith Sharp officiating. Burial with Navy Honors will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
