Richard “Ricky, Pop” Watkins, age 71 of Bessemer passed away January 12, 2021. Richard was a devoted husband to Sara for 53 years, a dedicated father, grandfather and friend. He loved his grandchildren and was at every event he could make it to. He was proud of each of them and let it be known. He loved gardening with Sara each year. His favorite place was the Gulf. He was a retired coal miner of 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents James Hoyt and Rebecca Watkins, and his grandmother Greene Ruby Watkins. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Sara Watkins; daughters Tanya Easterwood, Dana Lindsay (Mike), and Brandi Morrison (Tommy); grandchildren Brittany Tisdale (Brandon), Macy Mims (Corey), Abby Lindsey (Kody), Zach Easterwood, Jackson Easterwood, Haleigh Morrison, and Brett Morrison; great grandchildren Makinley Mims, Laurel Tisdale, and Liliand Tisdale; sisters Judy King (Henry), and Mary Jo Williams (Larry); a host of nieces and nephews.
