MILAN LOUIS FORTNER

Milan Louis Fortner, 86, formerly of Birmingham, currently of Joppa, Al, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, February 6, 2019. Louis enlisted and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Louis Worked for Continental Can for 13 years, worked as a Funeral Director for 42 years, and has been a Pastor for 28 years. He played semi-pro baseball, and softball in Bessemer for many years. Louis is preceded in death by his son Joey Garner. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Mary Fortner; sons Bill Fortner (Pat), Jack Fortner (Terri), Milan Louis Fortner, Jr. (Mandi), and Kerry Garner; daughters Cynthia Howell (Kenny), Angela Drakos (Dino), Sheryl Thornton (Jared), Susie Hancock (Mark), and Dana LaRussa (Paul); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister Mary Fortner Walton. The visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM, Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at the Church at Gardendale, 323 Fieldstown Road, Gardendale, AL 35071. The funeral service will be at 10:15 AM at the Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115 at exactly 12:30 PM. If attending the military honors at the cemetery, please be at the cemetery no later than 12:15 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The Church at Gardendale, 323 Fieldstown Rd, Gardendale, AL 35071, for allowing their gracious use of the Church, and help with Louis's celebration of life service.
