“Live a simple life – own the most beautiful treasures.” Jerre Eidson Mitchell, Sr., born July 23, 1940 completed his simple life on earth as he entered the arms of our Heavenly Father early on Monday morning, March 9, 2020. His parents, Virginia Adell Mitchell, William B. Mitchell, Oravell and Lewis Bingham Mitchell preceded him in death, and also his beloved brother, Bennie Fred Mitchell. Gail Stubbs Mitchell, his wife of 51 years is left to cherish memories of raising their beautiful family together: Kristi Mitchell Scozzaro and her husband, Emmanuel with their children, Josie Adell Stafford, Trinity Hope Scozzaro, and Kolt Emmanuel Scozzaro. Also survived by son Jerre Eidson Mitchell, Jr., who carries his name. He was raised in Lineville, Alabama with his siblings: Larry James Mitchell (Connie), Tommie Lynn Mitchell (Carol), Nora Mitchell Griffin, Becky Mitchell Horn (Robert), Steve Lewis Mitchell (Linda), and many nieces and nephews whom he cherished. He completed his professional career as a security guard at America’s First Federal Credit Union in Bessemer where he learned the name of every customer. This followed a career of 25+ years as Warehouse Foreman with Piggly Wiggly. This beautifully simple man, husband, father, grandfather and friend was simply passionate about: His God, his family, coaching baseball, the good earth, his overalls, the Atlanta Braves and ALABAMA FOOTBALL! Roll Tide Roll! For over 30 years he served as a church leader and Elder at the First Christian Church in Bessemer. After moving to Helena, he became a member of The Church of Cahaba Bend where his funeral services will be held: The visitation will be Friday, March 13, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at The Church of Cahaba Bend, Helena. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM at the Church, with Reverend Keith Elder presiding. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.
