Jane Deason Bryant passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022, with her loved ones by her side. Jane was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Plato Deason and Cynthia Sellers Deason and two brothers Richard Deason (Frances) and Bill Deason. Jane was born in Birmingham on January 2, 1937, and was a graduate of Ensley High School. She enjoyed a successful career as an executive assistant of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Princeton Hospital and then Montclair Hospital until her retirement. After she retired from Pastoral Care and Counseling, she worked at Ensley Baptist Church where she wore many hats from handling the finances to cooking and serving the Wednesday night meals. Because she loved the Lord and desired to be a doer of the word, she touched many lives through her volunteer work with the youth at Ensley Baptist Church and as a faithful member and soloist in the church choir. Later she and Ralph worked with the senior members of the church planning trips for them. At Shades Crest Baptist Church she continued singing in the choir, volunteered with the Manna Ministry, and volunteered at the Greensprings Ministry food pantry. Jane loved to cook especially with her grandchildren. For many years she enjoyed baking and beautifully decorating birthday cakes and wedding cakes for family and friends. No Deason/Bryant gathering was complete without her sausage pinwheels, her fudge, her peanut brittle, and Gramma’s candied sweet potatoes. She also loved butterflies and would often wear a butterfly pin perched on her shoulder. Jane is survived by her husband of 65 years Ralph Louis Bryant; son Ralph Louis Bryant, Jr. (Ashley); grandsons Jonathan Bryant (Amanda), Anderson Bryant, Emerson Bryant; great grandchildren Rebecca Bryant and Jacob Bryant; brother Dr. Mel Deason (Liz); sister Cynthia Deason Sfakianos; her sister- in- law Evelyn Deason; and a large number of nieces and nephews. The visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00, Thursday, February 17, 2002, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The service will be at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shades Crest Baptist Church, 452 Park Avenue, Hoover, Alabama 35226.
