SARAH FRANCES (WEAVER) FRANKLIN

Sara Frances (Weaver) Franklin, passed away peacefully at home in McCalla, AL. She went to be with her Lord August 30, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born June15, 1934. Sara was preceded in her death by her parents Alsy and Nora Mae Weaver; brothers: Annon Weaver (Virginia) and Powell Weaver; sisters Jannette Dickinson and Ruby Huett; son Roger A. Franklin; and grandchildren Russell Foster Jr. and David Lee Franklin. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Sidney Franklin; children Sidney R. Franklin Jr. (Sheila) and Denise Foster (Russell); grandchildren Kerri Foster, Travis Franklin, Chris Franklin and Jeremy Franklin; great grandchildren Kaylee Romano, Gracie Franklin and Sophie Franklin; daughter-in-law Beverly Franklin; and a whole host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Sara was raised in West Highlands and attended McNeil Elementary, McNeil Junior High and then continued to Hueytown High School where she met the love of her life and graduated. Upon graduation she married and supported her husband in his careers in the military, and as an Industrial Plant Manager for 47 years. Sara loved, enjoyed, and supported her children and grandchildren along with being a stay-at-home mom. She found great joy in serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her church, in her community and as a Gideon’s wife. She loved spending time with family and friends whether it be Sunday dinners, playing cards, dirty Santa, going camping, or celebrating holidays. Sara loved all night gospel singings, going to yard sales and flee markets. She enjoyed sewing, going to the beach, going to see waterfalls, and vacationing at the Smoky Mountains. Sara will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. We will cherish her always and she will never be forgotten. The visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home, 195 Brooklane Drive, Hueytown, AL 35023. The funeral service will be at the Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family thanks ProHealth Home Health and Hospice for their care and support. We want to especially thank Desiree Luke (nurse) and Lorraine Naves (aide). These special ladies have truly been a blessing to our family.
