RUSSELL EDWARD LYNCH

Russell Edward Lynch, 85, of Hoover and formerly Pleasant Grove passed away on July 6, 2025 at his home in Hoover. He was the son of the late Roy W. and Lucy (Brown) Lynch and was born May 26, 1940 in Griffin, GA. Russell was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Lynch, and his brother-in-law; Grady McCalmon. Russell is survived by his wife of 32 years; Carol S. Hyde Lynch of Hoover, his daughter; Jennifer L. Pritchett and her husband Eric of Kimberly, his son; Russell E. Lynch, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Vestavia Hills, his stepsons; Adam C. Hyde and his wife Angela of Ellwood City, PA, Evan C. Hyde and his wife Andrea of McCalla, his grandchildren; Eden Delgado and her husband Israel of Gardendale, Garrett Pritchett of Kimberly, Sara Kate and Ella Lynch of Vestavia Hills, Hannah and Jackson Hyde of Ellwood City, PA, Victoria and Maxwell Hyde of McCalla. His sisters; Nancy McCalmon of Mentone, Kristie Dorsey and her husband Don of Centralia, IL, and his brother Bob Lynch and his wife Connie of Crestview, FL. He had several nieces and nephews. Russell was a graduate of Hapeville High School in Hapeville, GA. Upon graduation he attended Auburn University where he received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1964. Upon graduation he went to work for US Steel in Fairfield, AL retiring after 32 years of service. He and Carol married August 14, 1993. Russell greatly enjoyed being with his family, especially being around his 8 grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, hiking around Desoto State Park in Alabama, flyfishing, where he made his own lures and flies, working in his yard and gardening, and several memorable trips to Nova Scotia, Canada, with Carol. He was also a very proud Auburn Football fan! He was a caretaker with Carol of their many cats over the years. Russell was a longtime member of Garywood Assembly of God in Hueytown. Carol and Russell moved to Mentone in 2001 where they lived on the Brow. They attended Rainsville Church of God and then Fort Payne First United Methodist Church where Russell was active working in the kitchen during fellowship meals. He and Carol moved back to the Birmingham area in 2018 to be closer to their family. The visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home, located at 195 Brooklane Drive, Hueytown, AL 35023. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home, with Rev. John Loper, officiating. Interment will be in Cloudland Presbyterian Cemetery, 150 Partain Road, Menlo, GA 30731, Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
