In Loving Memory of Reverend Raymond Lewis "Buddy" Poe Reverend Raymond Lewis "Buddy" Poe, 84, of Hueytown, Alabama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While his family grieves his passing, they rejoice in the assurance that he is now in the presence of the Savior he faithfully served and proclaimed throughout his life. Known affectionately to family and friends as Buddy, he dedicated his life to ministry and sharing the Gospel. As pastor of People's Church, he faithfully shepherded his congregation with love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to God's Word. His greatest passion was introducing others to Jesus Christ and encouraging believers to grow in their faith. Music was also a central part of Buddy's ministry. For more than 60 years, he sang gospel music, using the gift God gave him to inspire, encourage, and point countless people to Christ. Whether behind the pulpit or on a stage with a microphone in hand, his life's mission remained the same—to glorify God and spread the good news of Jesus. Buddy will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his servant's heart, and the genuine love he showed to everyone he met. His legacy is not only found in the churches he pastored or the songs he sang, but in the many lives that were forever changed through his faithful witness and Christ-centered example. Preceding him in death were his father, William Hesley Poe; his mother, Hazel Blair Poe; his sister, Peggy Boisky; and his son, Zane Poe. Buddy is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Josie Poe; his daughter, Misty Peel (Bart); his sons, Nicholas Poe (Heather) and Michael Poe (Jeanine); his grandson, Andy Poe (Mallory); his granddaughters, Julia Peel, Ruby Peel, and Audrey Peel; and one great-granddaughter, and brother-in-law. He also leaves behind many extended family members, church family, and dear friends who were blessed by his life and ministry. Though his voice on earth has been silenced, the message he proclaimed throughout his life continues to echo in the hearts of those he touched. The family finds comfort in the promise of Scripture: "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." (Matthew 25:23) Buddy's life was a testimony of unwavering faith, his ministry a blessing to countless people, and his legacy one of love, service, and devotion to Christ. While he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices knowing that he has heard the words he longed to hear and is now home with his Savior. The visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Brother Greg Crowe officiating. Burial will follow at Highland memorial Gardens.
