PERRY ANN CONWILL BANKS

Perry Ann Conwill Banks, of Rock Creek, ascended to Heaven to join her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2025 at the age of 83. Born on February 20, 1942, in Oak Grove, Alabama, she lived life to its fullest with an infectious personality. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and friend. After 44 years of marriage, Perry Ann was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Joe Banks. Also preceding her in death, her parents, Marvin Conwill and Francis Bentley Conwill Guthrie, brothers by marriage, Roland Banks and Cliff Banks, and sisters by marriage, Charlcie Lucas, Alice Tubbs and Janice Richey, all whom she loved deeply. Perry Ann is survived by her brother, Jerry Guthrie, daughters, Jo Ann Banks Wynn (John) and Karen Banks Carlile (Todd) and son, Mike Banks; grandchildren, Chris Tucker (Ashley), Kaci Leach, Kayla Bates (Chad), Lindsey Rich (Chad); great grandchildren, Peyton and Landon Tucker, Braden and Silas Leach, Graham, Henry and Hattie Bates, and, Ellie, Emilia, Alexander, Jeremiah, and Aidan Rich, special niece, Ginger Guthrie. Perry Ann had a boundless love for her grands and great grands, cousins, nieces, nephews and several very special close friends. She was a cheerleader at Oak Grove High School and crowned Miss Oak Grove. She enjoyed working at the family-owned grocery store in Oak Grove, delivering flowers for Don’s Florist, serving customers at Weldon’s Pharmacy, and she would often be found greeting customers at Cracker Barrel, never meeting a stranger. Perry Ann was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving in many offices, and, truly loved meeting monthly with her Red Hat Sisters where she forged wonderful friendships. Perry Ann loved browsing yard sales and thrift stores for trinkets and treasures, but her greatest treasures were her children, grands and great grands. Perry Ann also loved camping and traveling with family and friends, and had a heart for visiting friends, the sick and shut-in, goody bag in tow. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home, 195 Brooklane Drive, Hueytown, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM at the Funwral Home with Chad Rich (grandson in- law) officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery, 9161 Camp Oliver Road, Bessemer, Reverend Mike Stephens, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Perry Ann’s legacy by giving to Samaritan’s Purse or the charity of your choice in her memory, continuing her remarkable legacy of generosity and love.
