Paul Jackson Segars, Jr. October 15, 1942 – March 20 2014. Heaven rejoiced as our beloved Jack Segars entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior. What words do you use to describe a “Man of few words”? Kind, Gentle, Loving, Generous, Sweet, Thoughtful, Unselfish, Long Suffering, Mild Mannered, Faithful, Dedicated, Trustworthy, Dependable, Strong, Courageous, Determined, Hard Working, Ingenious, Integrity, Admirable, Caring, Giving, Good, Respectful, Special, Private, Humble, Meek etc. The list of words is endless. Yet, insufficient to describe Paul Jackson “Jack” Segars, Jr. .Perhaps, the best way of knowing Jack is through the hearts and eyes of those of us who were blessed to be loved by him. His loving son, Brian, “He was more than my Dad. He was my best Friend”. His brother, John, “He was my big brother and I looked up to him”. Friend, Kent, “We spent many an hour fishing and hunting. He was my Friend. But, he never talked about himself”. Cousin, Hank, “Jack was the best of all of us”. Cousin, Pam, “When he saw me, his eyes would light up and a smile came upon his face. He did not have to say words, I saw the love”. Daughter in Love, Wendy, “I loved him. He was always there if you needed him.” Daughter, Ashley Thompson, “Jack is the only Daddy that I have ever known.” Jack's adoring partner in life, Susan, “Jack showed his love with actions, not with words”.Throughout his life, Jack reached out with a loving heart and caring spirit to help those around him. Never with any fanfare to draw attention to himself. Jack possessed a tremendous work ethic from a very young age. Jack carried forward the Segars tradition of hard work by training his sons, Stephen and Brian. His long hours and hard work awarded him with a successful business, Jack Segars Heating and Air and Segars Building. After years of working along side his Dad son, Brian, would continue the family business. One of his proudest moments before his death was to learn that daughter, Ashley, had been accepted to the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. Fishing, hunting and adoring grand children, Nicole and Chase, provided him with the utmost pleasure.Jack was preceded in death by his Mother, Margaret Liegaber; Father, Paul Jackson Segars, Sr.; Brothers, Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Segars, James Edward “Jimmy” Segars, Keith Segars; Sister, Kelly Christine Jones.Jack is survived by his soul mate, Susan Thompson; Sons, Brian Keith (Wendy) Segars, Paul Stephen Segars; Daughter, Ashley Thompson, Brothers, John Paul Segars and Jeffrey Glenn Segars; Sisters, Debra Jean Fitzhugh and Paula Kim Vasoss.
