MARJORIE M. MOORE

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 95, October 9, 2025. Her primary focus in life was God, her family, and friends. In Oct 1954 she received the Holy Ghost (obeying Acts 2:38) and her husband Bro. Bill Moore did also. Two years later, he was called into ministry and Margie preached along with him for 40 years. She was a great Pastor’s wife, never showing partiality, but loving everyone the same. She was full of joy and was always ready for a good laugh. They pastored in New Hebron, Mississippi; Mt. Pisgah, Mississippi; and Brookhaven, Mississippi, witnessing many being filled with the Holy Ghost and healed of cancer and other illnesses. She has friends all over Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Texas. Mother loved Texas- where she was born and raised (she often said that one handful of Texas dirt was worth more than anywhere else). She was best known for her chicken and dumplings, sweet potato casserole and chocolate pie. She instilled in her family kindness, a great work ethic and a love for God. Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Bill Moore; her daughter, Penny Herring; her grandson, Joseph Honea; her brothers, James Cowey, Roy Cowey, Lee Cowey, and V.C. Cowey; and her parents, James Steven Cowey and Martha Emma Click. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Honea (Neil); grandchildren, Neil Honea, Jr. (Amy), Angie Pruitt (Butch), William Jeffrey Honea (Emily), Heidi Bauer, Brian Welford, Todd Honea, Holly Honea-Arendt (Marcel), and John Mark Honea; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who loved her dearly. Margie’s request was that no flowers or accolades be given, but that each of us live our lives for God. She will be deeply missed by her dear friends and caregivers, Terri Summerlin and Michael Ellenburg, who lovingly spent time with her every day. The visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Deeper Life Pentacostal Church, Hueytown, AL. The funera service will be at 2:00 PM at the Church. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
