LINDA JANE WALDRUP BICE

Linda Jane Waldrup Bice, 79 of Chattanooga, Tennessee, formerly a citizen of Talladega, AL. passed away, March 8, 2023. Linda grew up in the Bessemer and Hueytown area in Alabama and was raised by an artist/art teacher. She was brought up in a loving home being able to express herself. She was in the top of her class in high school and in college, and graduated in 1961 from Bessemer High School and attended college at the University of Montevallo. She was brought up in the church, singing and playing the piano. Singing was very close to her heart and it was her passion. She was a pianist in various churches over the years. She was in several singing groups and had countless solo performances. She held many roles in garden clubs, PTA, and book clubs. Once she picked up a book, she could not put it down. She was always thirsty for knowledge and shared it with everyone. She was the kind of woman, sister, mother, and friend that what you saw is what you got, she was real. Her personality was as real as they come. She had faith in God and spread that to her children. She loved with everything that she had and fought for everything that she believed in. She had a wonderful laugh and made an impression on the hearts that she met. She had a fiery spirit, a zest for life and was a sponge for knowledge. In the end our amazing mom still wanted her red lipstick and her nails sparkling for all to admire. She will be forever missed, and she is forever etched in our hearts. One staff member said, “Heaven just got a splash of red”. Linda was preceded in death by her mother Rubye Rose Salter-Waldrup; her father Charles Lee Waldrup, Sr.; her first love Alfred Lynn McGlothlin; and her granddaughter Karina Gozman. She is survived by her husband Robert Daniel Bice; her son, Michael Shawn McGlothlin (Jessica) of Oregon; and Daughters: Melissa Shannon McGlothlin Lazenby of Chattanooga, TN and Elizabeth (Beth) Ellen Hall (Ronnie) of Buford, GA; her step-children; Danny Bice (Dixie) of Talladega and Carolyn Bice Evans; her grandchildren: Chris Phillips, Grant Morgan McGlothlin, Casey Bice, Isaiah Anthony-James O’Brien, Maya Dee O’Brien, Bryce Lazenby, Ella Grace Lazenby, and Aubrey Rayne Hall; her brother Charles Lee Waldrup (Nancy); and a host of extended family and friends. The graveside service will at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 13, 2023 at Salter Cemetery, with Brian Hinton officiating.
