JOYCE TALBOT BULLARD

Joyce Talbot Bullard, age 76, of Sylvan Springs, Alabama, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Bullard was born June 20, 1935 in Jefferson County, Alabama, grew up in Etowah County, and graduated from Etowah High School class of 1953. She lived most of her adult life in Jefferson County. Joyce was a member of Concord Highlands Baptist Church, was employed by Jefferson County Land Development, and retired October 1997 with 22 years of service. Mrs. Bullard was preceded in death by her parents, Bill M. and Ella B. Talbot; sister, Lucy Romine; and brother, J.D. Brown. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James A. "Jimmy" Bullard of Sylvan Springs. She is also survived by her daughters, Deborah Gwin of Hueytown and Jamie (Tom) Holmes of Hayden; son, David Bullard of Hueytown; sister, Gera (David) Comfort of Birmingham; brothers, Bill M. (Virginia) Talbot of Gadsden and Jimmy (Jerri) Talbot of Hueytown; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons David Burkholder, Connor Burkholder, Keith Gwin, Blake Cummings, Wesley Holmes, Mason Holmes, and Andrew Bullard. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Archer Cummings and the 1953 class of Etowah High School. Joyce was very deeply loved by her husband, children, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and her passing has left a tremendous void in their lives forever. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Visitation will be at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home, 195 Brooklane Drive, Hueytown, AL on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will immediately follow visitation, with Rev. Keith Lindsey and Jacque Snow officiating. Burial and graveside services will be the following day, Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., McCauley's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, 824 Tabor Road (1 mile east of Noccalula Falls), Gadsden, Alabama with the Rev. Phillip Elliott officiating. The family would like to thank all the neighbors, friends, and family for the food, love, and fellowship displayed during our time of sorrow. The family would also like to thank Odyssey Hospice for the excellent care that was provided to Joyce during her last few weeks.
