JANET KINNETT HARRIS EARLEY

Janet Kinnett Harris Earley, Age 99, of Concord, Ala., passed away April 30, 2012. The oldest of five sisters born to Robert Taylor Harris and Lena Sally Kinnett Harris on October 12, 1912 in Brighton, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolphus Earley and her son James Douglas Earley, three sisters, Marie Kelley (Frank), Jewel Adams (James) and Louise Dunson (Cecil). She is survived by her son, Ronald Earley (Gail) of Concord, daughters Bobbie Trammell of Melbourne, Fla., Sue Clemons of Huntsville, Ala., Linda Wren (Jim) of Shelby, Ala. Sister, Georgia Slye of Helena, Ala. Grandchildren Scott Earley (Joy) of Hueytown, Ala., Joy Fairchild of Huntsville, Ala., Douglas Clemons (Dianne) of Harvest, Ala., Jay Clemons of Huntsville, Ala., Catherine Trammell of Melbourne, Fla., Thomas Trammell (Christina) of Miami, Fla., Russel Trammell (Laurie) of Golden, Col. Great Grandchildren John Earley, Taylor Clemons, Eric Trammell (Jiyon), Jennifer Trammell, Cierra Trammell, Curtis Trammell. One Great Great Grandchild is expected on what would have been her 100th Birthday, October 12, 2012. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Janet learned to drive at the age of 12 in her Grandfather, Dr. Jackson Kinnett’s , automobile long before licenses were required. She graduated with the class of 1930 from Hueytown High School. She married Adolphus “Doc” Earley in April of 1932 and moved with her family to her present home in Concord in 1941. She was very close to her sisters and enjoyed many card playing sessions with them and her brother-in-laws. She has been an active member of Concord Baptist Church, has taught the Faith Sunday School Class for 54 years, counting all of her Sunday School “girls” as dear friends. She taught Vacation Bible School for many years and participated in the growth and direction of her church. She took great pride in raising her children, sewing most of her children’s clothing, including Easter suits and prom dresses. She helped raise cows, chickens and a big garden for many years, canning everything to feed her family. She exemplified the occupation of “Homemaker” She lived independently until the last few months of her life. Mrs. Earley faced life with determination and generosity and was a treasured Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend. The family will receive friends Friday, May 4th from 12:30pm until 2:00pm at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home, Hueytown, Ala. The service will be held at 2:00pm in the Chapel with Bro. Matt McGukin officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
