JAMES "JIM" THOMAS EVANS

James "Jim" Thomas Evans went to be with Jesus at home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Jim was born September 16, 1937 in Docena, Al. and lived most of his life in Hueytown, Alabama. Jim was a Veteran of The Navy and after serving his country he worked for Neely Roller and also retired from NBC Bank in maintenance. Jim was a “master” mechanic and could repair a car over the phone - just by listening to the engine (true story)! Jim was a man of few words, a kind, soft spoken man, a man of integrity and great character. He loved lending a helping hand to fix a mechanical problem for anyone who needed it! He loved Auburn football, NASCAR racing and his family. Jim was a True Friend and loved by so many which is a testament to the man he was. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Evans; parents Aaron Reese & Rena Aldrich Evans; son, Jerry Dean Evans; brothers, Donald Ray Evans, Aaron Reese Evans Jr., Robert Julian Evans, Benjamin Taylor Evans, Jerry Wayne Evans (Linda); sister, Mary Catherine Evans; brother-in-law Paul Slappey, sister-in-law, Sandra Golden Evans; step-sons, Clark Sanders and Wayne Sanders; granddaughter Terri Sanders; the mother of his children, Faye Watson Evans. Jim was survived by his sons James Lee Evans, Richard Alan Evans, Randall Sanders (Monique) and Kenny Sanders (Rhonda); brother Phillip Lee Evans “Babe”; sisters Eva Mae Evans Slappey; Sylvia Jean Evans Parrish (James); Dorothy Childs “Dot” Evans; grandchildren Dean Jr., Jennifer, Ben, Nathan, Tyler, Aaron, Ashley, Chris, Terry, Alicia (Michael), Sherri (Matt), KC (Jamie), Ashley, Brandy, Alexis, Josh, Destin, Chase, Summer; also great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A special thank you to Randall and Monique for all the Love, support and care you provided for Jim over the years as his health declined. Visitation with family and friends will be on Saturday, February 13th from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home 195 Brooklane Dr., Hueytown, Al. 35023.
