HORACE FANCHER

Horace Fancher, affectionately known as "Peck" to family and friends, departed this world on August 2, 2026. Born on April 19, 1937, in the small town of Piper, Alabama, Peck was the beloved son of Wheeler and Sula Fancher. A proud graduate of Hueytown High School, Peck pursued further education in business school, laying the groundwork for a life dedicated to both professional and personal pursuits. On June 6, 1959, he began a partnership that would shape his life in the most beautiful ways, marrying his dear Sandra. Together, they shared a remarkable 67 years of marriage, during which they raised five wonderful children, each a unique testament to their enduring love and commitment. Peck’s life was one of service, generosity, and an ever-present smile. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued, a gift that extended beyond his family to the countless foster children he and Sandra lovingly cared for over the years. His home was a haven of warmth and laughter, where the bonds of family were nurtured and celebrated. His life was a testament to unwavering love, and he found joy in the company of his family and community at the skating rink, watching his children as well as so many other children enjoy roller skating. Peck is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Sandra, and their children: Nick (Bobbie), Cassie (Leo), Tommy (Starr), and Doug. He was predeceased by his parents, Wheeler and Sula Fancher, siblings, Toby and Dean, his cherished daughter Beverlea (Carl) and grandson Colby (Jessica), whose memories remain vibrant in the hearts of their family and who were no doubt there to welcome him. Peck's legacy is carried forward by his grandchildren: Brian (Cara), Melissa, Madison, CJ, Cody, Cosette (Treis), and Alyssa, as well as his great-grandchildren: Kaden, Sawyer, Libby, Piper, Monte, and the greatest joy that came in his final years was Maison and Myles. The joy and happiness that thry brought him each and every day can never be matched. Alzheimer Dementia is a horrible disease that comes with great challenges and it robbed him of so much. It leaves you a shell of the person you once were. But during such challenging tines in Peck’s life and on days where it seemed like a smile couldn’t be found, they would walk in and say “Hey Peck!” and there it was! They loved Peck and he loved them. Peck’s life was a beautiful legacy that will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he touched and in the countless memories created over a lifetime well-lived. As we remember Peck, let us celebrate a life filled with love, humility, and the everlasting impact of a truly remarkable man. The visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00, Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
