GEORGIANNA GREEN ROGERS

Georgianna Green Rogers of Birmingham, Alabama passed away Monday, November 17, 2025 at the age of 93. Georgia was born June 12, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the seventh child of Herman Reed Green and Annie Louise Killingsworth. At 2 years old, Georgia went to live in the Presbyterian home in Talladega, Alabama along with five of her other siblings. During her stay at the home she was fostered by two amazing individuals, Cliff and Essie Oswalt of Tuskegee, Alabama. They adored her and always called her their “little pumpkin”. Georgia worked in the men's clothing industry for over 60 years. She worked at the National Shirt Shop, Jones Lawless, and S & K men's wear. Many men were very well dressed due to her natural talent, excellent eye, and attention to detail. Georgia loved to travel to the beach, specifically Gulf Shores, where her family had a home. Here, she created many everlasting memories with her siblings and children. Georgia and her husband Don also had the amazing opportunity to travel to many destinations around the world. Some of these included: Spain, Hawaii, London, and various places in Europe. Georgia was a member at the Ernest United Methodist Church in Concord, Alabama. She enjoyed the company of her fellow members and always looked forward to Sunday fellowship and holiday luncheons at the church. Georgia married Don Rogers on August 3, 1950. Together they had three daughters, Anna Clarise McConnell (David), Donna Jean Rogers, and Cheryl Lynn Smith. She had three grandchildren, David McConnell II (Lauren), Sara Lamb (Clint), and Hanna Smith. Georgia only had one great grandchild during her life, David Ethridge McConnell III. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Betty Jean Green and many other loving nieces and nephews. Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, Don Rogers after 69 years of marriage; brothers James, Herman, Ralph, and Carl Green; sisters Margaret Harris, and Betty Jean Coker; and son-in-law Paul Smith. The visitation will be Friday, November 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Ernest United Methodist Church, with Pastor Nedra Dearman officiating The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM at the Church. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery in Midfield, Alabama. Memorial contributions may be made to Ernest United Methodist Church in Concord, Alabama. Georgia's family would like to thank the extraordinary care she received throughout her stay at the Oaks on Parkwood and her final days under the care of ProHealth Hospice staff.
