CHARLES DALE SELLERS

Dale Sellers, 72, of Alliance, Alabama, passed away on August 7, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd “Bud” and Bobbie Reed Sellers. He is survived by his wife, Sharon McCamy Sellers, children, Beth Nordan, Becky (Jonathan) Jones, Leah (Markco) Henderson, grandchildren, Abby and Will Nordan, Jon Thomas and Brooks Jones, Raegan and Marley Henderson, brother, Kenny (Theresa) Sellers, sisters, Karen (Larry) Norris, Laurie Sellers, Allison Goodman, special aunt, Kay Russell, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. As a young adult, Dale was a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserve (8 years) and United States Coast Guard Reserve (2 years). He continued to serve his community as a firefighter in the City of Mountain Brook (12 years), lieutenant firefighter and paramedic at the City of Hueytown (23 years), and as chief of Concord Fire Department (4 years). As a local small business owner, master plumber, gas fitter, and craftsman, Dale often completed pro-bono construction jobs for those in need. An avid reader of fiction and science, an animal lover, and bird-watcher, Dale was happiest at home on his farm. A master storyteller, he never missed an opportunity for a lively discussion, and loved discussing philosophy, patriotism, architecture, engineering, nature, and religion. Particularly fascinated with the night sky and the phases of the moon, he would often ask those visiting the farm, “Have you looked up at the stars and heavens tonight?” He also marveled at the magic of his grandchildren, and would light up every time he saw them. He consistently sought to inspire everyone in his family, particularly his daughters. He would often tell them, “You can do anything you want to do in life.” Dale’s family wishes to thank Roger Pledger, lifelong colleague, neighbor, and friend, and Sheryl Meharg, nurse, CarePath Consultants, Affinity Hospice, Self Rehabilitation, and Plantation Manor, for their care and compassion for him and his family during his final days. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Grounds Fund at Hueytown Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held on his family farm at a later date.
